Automated Speed Enforcement Pilot Programme Now Live in Some Designated School and Community Safety Zones

Wellington County, Ont.- Today, Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) cameras will go live in some school and Community Safety Zones (CSZs) on County roads.

The one-year Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) Pilot Programme will help curb speeding, alter driver behaviour, and increase safety in our communities. The ASE cameras will be used alongside other traffic control measures that focus on education and enforcement.

Coming Soon signs were installed 90 days prior to the go live date, providing sufficient notice to residents, commuters, and visitors. These signs will be replaced with Camera in Use signs when the cameras are activated.

CSZs were identified based on criteria developed during the County’s Road Master Action Plan study. The seven trial ASE locations were selected based on current traffic data and provide one trial location in each municipality.

“ASE has been proven to decrease speeding and improve traffic safety for the community,” said Gregg Davidson, Roads Committee Chair. “ASE is a reminder to slowdown and drive the posted speed limit.”
