Important Update: $10 Minimum User Fee at Waste Facilities
Starting January 1, 2025, all Wellington County waste facility sites will implement a $10.00 minimum user fee.
Our five transfer stations and one active landfill site are available to all residents and businesses in the County of Wellington (excludes City of Guelph residents).
A transfer station may take almost any material that a landfill will take, but in smaller quantities that will fit in a pickup truck or small utility trailer. Site attendants have the authority to turn loads away that are too large for their facility to accommodate.
Hours and Locations
Note: all County waste facilities are closed on Sunday, Monday and statutory holidays.

NEW IN 2025: Minimum User Fee
Starting January 1, 2025, all Wellington County waste facility sites will implement a $10.00 minimum user fee. This change is part of the County's Solid Waste Services (SWS) Strategy to reduce landfill use and encourage residents to take advantage of the County’s curbside collection programme.
The new fee applies to all waste materials brought to County waste facilities, including yellow collection programme garbage bags. By implementing this minimum fee, the County can focus on diverting more materials from the landfill and making better use of the facility space for recycling items that can’t be collected curbside, such as asphalt shingles, drywall, and mattresses.
Exemptions to the Minimum Fee:
Some materials are exempt from the $10.00 minimum fee, including:
- Household Hazardous Waste
- Tires
- Electronic Waste
- Leaf and Yard Waste (April through November)
