RIDE WELL Launches New Accessible Transit Service

RIDE WELL, Wellington County’s on-demand rural transit service, is pleased to announce major enhancements that expand accessible transportation options for residents across the County and the City of Guelph.

As part of its commitment to improving mobility for all residents, RIDE WELL has added specially equipped accessible vans featuring ramp access to support riders who use wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids. These new vehicles ensure that passengers who cannot use standard RIDE WELL vehicles can now enjoy the same reliable, convenient door-to-door service.

“Accessibility is not an add-on - it’s central to inclusive community development,” said Jeff Duncan, Chair of the County’s Economic Development Committee. “By expanding RIDE WELL with dedicated accessible vehicles and improved booking options, Wellington County is taking a meaningful step toward more reliable, accessible rural transportation.”

To better meet rider needs, RIDE WELL has also launched new accessible booking options:

  • Standard booking up to seven days in advance for accessible trips
  • Extended booking up to 14 days in advance for riders who complete the Accessible Transit Application Form available at www.wellington.ca/accessible-transit-form

The Accessible Transit Application Form allows riders to indicate mobility needs and identify a universal support person who may travel at no cost.

“The extended booking window ensures passengers requiring accessible vehicles have priority access and more time to plan their essential trips,” said Christina Mann, Manager of Economic Development.

How It Works

Riders can book accessible trips:

  • Online at www.wellington.ca/ridewell
  • Through the RIDE WELL mobile app (iOS and Android)
  • By phone at 1-833-900-RIDE (7433), Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

When booking, riders must select ‘Passenger with a mobility aid’ to ensure an accessible vehicle is reserved.
