Wellington County Celebrates Ontario Public Library Week

Wellington County, Ont. – Wellington County is proud to recognize Ontario Public Library Week (OPLW), which highlights the invaluable role libraries play in enhancing the lives of individuals and communities across Ontario. From October 20 to 26, new visitors and existing library lovers are invited to join the celebration under the theme Libraries for Life

October is also Canadian Library Month, a time when libraries and their partners across Canada come together to raise awareness about the essential services they provide.

“Libraries are community hubs where visitors receive service, support, education, and entertainment,” said Rebecca Hine, Wellington County’s Chief Librarian. “We invite everyone in Wellington County – whether a lifelong library user or first-time visitor - to celebrate the vital role libraries play in fostering learning, creativity, and community engagement during this special week.”

As a token of appreciation, visitors to Wellington County Library branches during OPLW can replace any lost or damaged cards free of charge and enter a draw to win a free book (terms and conditions apply – visit www.wellington.ca/OntarioPublicLibraryWeek for full contest details).

Wellington County is home to 14 branches - including 5 Carnegie buildings known for their distinctive architecture – which offer a range of resources and services, from books and digital media to community programmes and workshops. Each year, local branches circulate nearly one million items and receive more than half a million visitors.
