Community Improvement Funding
Wellington County's Community Improvement Funding programme offers top-up funding to businesses already approved and participating in their local municipality's Community Improvement Plan (CIP).
The programme was designed to stimulate rehabilitation and development initiatives, while also advancing broader County-wide objectives like sustainable development, economic diversification, employment growth, housing alternatives and improved accessibility.
Community Improvement Funding - Application Guide
Grants Available
Study Grant
Help applicants complete pre-development studies and offers up to $10,000 per study.
Minor Activity Grant
Helps businesses complete infrastructure projects such as façade improvements, expansions, or interior renovations of up to $20,000.
Major Activity Grant
A Tax Increment Equivalent Grant (TIEG) for eligible commercial, housing, agricultural, tourism, and sustainability projects.

Community Futures CIP Matching Loans
If you’re interested in a Community Improvement project and you require extra capital to access it, the Community Futures Offices in Wellington County offer low-interest loans to help you.
If you are approved for a CIP project by your local municipality, you will automatically be approved for these loans from the Community Futures office.
Wellington Waterloo Community Futures Matching Programme
Receive up to $20,000 per project and/or property, if approved to receive financial incentives from a member municipality. Open to businesses in Centre Wellington, Erin, Guelph/Eramosa, Mapleton, and Puslinch.
Saugeen Economic Development Corporation CIP Loan
Receive up to $20,000 to assist funding CIP projects, if approved to receive financial incentives from a member municipality. Open to businesses in Minto and Wellington North.
