Wellington County, Ont. – On Saturday, May 30, residents and visitors are invited to explore, taste, and experience local food and farming at Taste Real’s Spring Rural Romp. This free, self-guided farm and food tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at local agriculture and food production and gives visitors the unique opportunity to connect with the people who grow, produce, and prepare food across northern Wellington County.
This year’s Spring Rural Romp features a record number of stops, with 18 participating farms, nurseries, cafés, a distillery, and other local businesses across Mapleton, Minto, and Wellington North. All locations will welcome visitors from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, with select stops offering extended hours.
“The Rural Romp is a popular event for both visitors and residents who want to learn more about local agriculture and where their food comes from,” says Jeff Duncan, Chair of Wellington County’s Economic Development Committee. “It’s a great opportunity for farms and businesses to connect with new customers, share their stories, and showcase the incredible local food and agricultural products grown and made right here in Wellington County.”
Throughout the day, participants can tour farms and production facilities, meet local food producers, enjoy interactive experiences, and shop for plants, seedlings, flowers, spring produce, and a wide range of locally made products.
Many stops will also feature a signature ‘Must Taste’ item – unique, locally crafted specialties ranging from hot sauce and maple syrup to goat cheese and butter tarts. Select locations will also offer lunch and snack options, making it easy for visitors to spend the full day exploring northern Wellington County.
Romp participants are also encouraged to join the Rural Romp Treasure Hunt by answering a question at each stop they visit for a chance to win one of three $100 gift certificates to a local food business.
Rural Romp maps will be available at participating locations two weeks before the event and can also be downloaded online. To plan your route and explore the full list of participating locations, visit www.tastereal.ca.
The Fall Rural Romp, showcasing farm and food businesses in Guelph and southern Wellington County, will take place on September 26, 2026.
