Councillor Chris White Elected Wellington County Warden 2024-2026

Guelph, Ontario – At Wellington County Council’s inaugural meeting, Chris White, Mayor of Guelph/Eramosa, was elected Warden for the 2024-2026 term.

Warden White was elected to Guelph/Eramosa Township Council in 2003. In 2006, White was elected Mayor and has held the position since. In 2010 and 2012, he was elected Warden for two consecutive terms.

While on County Council, Warden White been a member of the following committees and boards:

  • Administration, Finance and Human Resources (Chair)
  • Economic Development (Past Chair)
  • Wellington County O.P.P. Detachment Board
  • Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health Board
  • Grand River Conservation Authority Board (Chair)
  • Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) (Past Chair)
  • Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) (Past Chair Rural Caucus)
  • Western Ontario Warden’s Caucus

“I want to congratulate Warden White,” commented Past Warden Andy Lennox. “Chris brings broad, provincial level experience to the role of Warden. His work at AMO and ROMA is commendable. Wellington County is in very capable hands.”

Scott Wilson, Chief Administrative Officer, is also looking forward to Warden White’s leadership. “Chris brings a variety of experiences to the role of Warden,” said Wilson. “Wellington County Council and staff look forward to working with Warden White.”

“It’s an incredible privilege to be elected by my peers to serve as Wellington County Warden for the next two years,” said Warden White. “I look forward to building on the important work of our previous Council and working hard to make Wellington County an even better place to live, work and do business.”
