Guelph, Ont.- Today, County Council and the Wellington County Past Wardens Association, unveiled a portrait of former Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Late James C. (Jim) Andrews. The portrait hangs outside of Council Chambers in the County Administration Centre.
Jim was hired as County Clerk by the County in 1982. Years later, Jim officially became the County’s first CAO – a role he held proudly until his retirement in 1998.
“Jim was born in Glasgow, Scotland,” said Past Warden John Green, who unveiled the portrait. “He was proud of his Scottish heritage and loved to talk about it. He had a quick wit, a profound sense of humour and often brought both attributes to his role as CAO. Jim was one of the County’s greatest leaders. He created an environment of professionalism and respect that is still part of the County’s culture today. It’s an honour to recognize Jim with this portrait."
Jim’s wife Susan, their children, and grandchildren attended the portrait unveiling today along with several Past Wardens.
