ELA Is seeking REGISTERED EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS for our After School Programs (Part Time Hours) and Seasonal Full Day Summer School Age Programs (Full time hours).
2pm to 6pm Monday to Friday After School Program during operational school days from September to June.
Regularly scheduled 8 hour shifts during Weekly School Breaks (March Break, Winter Break), Summer (July & Aug) and PA Day Programs (As identified by the Wellington Catholic District School Board)

Position Summary
Under the direction of the General Manager or Designate, this position entails working with school-age children in our Before & After School licensed child care programs. The Educator will plan and facilitate emergent curriculum based on How Does Learning Happen? and exemplify the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice laid out by the College of Early Childhood Educators.
Job Duties
- Maintain direct supervision of children at all times.
- Adhere to Ministry of Education required ratios at all times.
- Assist children in developing positive peer relationships and pro-social skills.
- Support children in the development of self-regulation skills.
- Model positive interactions and communication skills.
- Implement clear and inclusive behaviour guidelines.
- Get to know each child's unique abilities and needs.
- Build and maintain strong, positive and collaborative connections within our community and outreach contacts (Resource Consultants, CMHA, KidsAbility)
- Build and maintain strong, positive and collaborative relationships with the school community (principals, teachers, education assistants, custodians)
- Build and maintain caring relationships with families, encouraging engagement within the classroom.
- Embrace the diversity of our ELA family and surrounding community, fostering a sense of belonging within the child care program.
- Design and maintain a safe, healthy and inclusive learning environment where children can thrive.
- Communicate safety concerns with the school community and the School-Age Manager.
- Nurture the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth of children through the magic of child-led play and planned learning intentions.
- Develop, document, plan and implement a weekly and extended project emergent curriculum based on observations within the classroom.
- Document observations and program connections to How Does Learning Happen?
- Employ program resources to create a learning-rich environment.
- Document pertinent/relevant child information and program details through Ministry required Attendance Records, Health & Safety assessments and Daily Written Logs.
- Exemplify and uphold the College of Early Childhood Educator's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
- Maintain strict privacy and confidentiality of families, students and colleagues.
- Participate in workshops, training sessions, and all scheduled staff meetings to fuel ongoing professional growth and maintain knowledge of the organization updates.
- Perform daily housekeeping duties within the child care program (i.e. washing toys, wiping down and disinfecting tables and chairs, etc.)
- Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the classroom & resource areas.
- Perform playground checks, maintain organization of the playground materials.
- Follow and adhere to all ELA Policies and Procedures.
- Follow and adhere to all Public Health Unit Requirements.
- Follow and adhere to all CCEYA requirements and regulations.
- Support and facilitate positive and collaborative relationships between all ELA employees, at all times.
MANDATORY Requirements:
- REGISTERED and in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR level C Certification
- Current Clear Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector (search completed within 5 months prior to hire date)
- Proof of up to date Immunizations (TDAP, MMR, Varicella, Hep B)
Experience & Skills:
Previous experience working with children in a child care setting
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Working knowledge of the CCEYA
Working knowledge of the Ontario Pedagogy; How Does Learning happen, and all related documents.
Solid understanding of the college of ECE standards in practice and code of ethics
Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
Teamwork skills to foster a collaborative and supportive working environment.
