County Officially Launches Livestreaming of Council Meetings

Guelph, Ont. – Wellington County Council Meetings will now be livestreamed. At the September 25, 2025, Council Meeting, staff soft launched the service to ensure the equipment and software worked seamlessly.

The implementation of live streaming was the result of a September 26, 2024, report entitled “Opportunities to Enhance Transparency of Council Decision Making” presented by Consultant Nigel Bellchamber of N.G. Bellchamber and Associates. Only County Council meetings will be livestreamed.

The meeting management system builds on the initial investment of wireless microphones purchased in 2022 to enhance acoustics in the Council Chambers. Seamless integration with our eScribe platform allows access to the livestream directly from the County of Wellington website.

County Council Meetings are not hybrid – meaning Council Members, staff and delegates will need to attend in person to participate in the meeting. Once the Council Meeting concludes, closed captioning will be added to the video and recording will be posted on the County’s website within 24 hours.
